Brian May - maintainer of the Debian package - stated in an email to me
that the new amavisd-new version will not make it into sarge before it
becomes stable. So sarge will use 20030616p10.
If the the new version is so much better as you say then maybe you should
try to convince him, that the new version is worth the effort to include
it in sarge. Whereas sarge is still not stable and it will probably will
take at least 3 month more.
If Brian cannot be persuaded, it would be great to fix the ldap issue in
that version. If it is really a functional flaw and not any other local
mistake.
Either way would be nice for all those (like us) who want to stick to
Debian packages as close as possible to take advantage of the wonderful
apt-get update && apt-get upgrade mechanism.
