Thanks again, and it didn't seem to solve the problem (im no perl guru
so I don't know how to check
if SA is indeed using 4.2).

Is what I installed, 3.X was installed before as per your observation.
It still cored tho, so backed up my bayes db (and removed it, letting
spamassasin build a new bayes-db), and are now waiting for mail to be
delivered.
