Enabling the Routing and Remote Access Service

The Routing and Remote Access Service is disabled in Windows XP by default.

  1. The service must be first be enabled.

  2. To enable this service from the Start Menu select Administrative Tools and then Services.

  3. From the Services window double click the Routing and Remote Access service listed under the Name column.

  4. From the Properties screen change the Startup type to Automatic and click Apply. Choosing Automatic here starts the service at boot time.

  5. The screen will refresh and the option to Start the service will be selectable. Click Start.
  6. Once the services starts click OK and close the Services window.
