New News Item

This screen is used to create new news items.

• [NOTE:]That, while it is advisable to have first created the appropriate Channel categorization before the news item itself, news items can be reassigned retroactively.

The values to fill in are as follows:

Channel

Select the news category. Create these with the New Channel screen, described below.

Title

The byline of the news item. This is what identifies the news item in every menu that lists them.

Teaser Text

This text appears in boldface directly under the title once the news item is accessed. It is not viewable on the various news item lists, however.

Text

This can be in plain text or as an HTML fragment.

Project

If the project management module has been enabled on this system the project name will be entered here.

Filing

Use this to characterize the news item as Current or Archived, or set an Archive-From date. Before this date, the news item is Current; on or after, it is Archived.

Public

Determines if anyone other than the creator of the news item may access it. This access does not grant automatic permission to modify or delete the news item, unless the user has explicit rights to do that (usually only granted to the Administrator).
